MEGAMIND
5 out of 5 stars
minion: “your most terrifying cape yet! i’m calling it....the black mambaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.”
CODE: just watch this clip for the full effect! :P (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flEG4fpzRCA)
dreamworks, you’ve done it yet AGAIN! ohhhh, i thought this was well animated and wildly original! laced with an AC/DC soundtrack, and you’ve got another dreamworks classic. ;)
megamind isn’t just about superheroes... it’s about the villian’s side of the story. it all starts with a baby megamind with a baby minion in a spaceship destined for earth, and simultaneously, another baby from another quadrant of the universe sent to the same place. baby metro man ends up in a luxurious home with rich parents while baby megamind ends up crashing in a prison. (LOL, aww...) years later, it’s good vs. evil, with megamind (voiced by will ferrell) in jail for 85 consecutive life sentences and metro man (voiced by brad pitt) getting a museum... of course, megamind escapes from prison, has minion kidnap reporter roxanne ritchi (voiced by tina fey), and accidentally kills metro man via his sun-fueled death ray. megamind is dumbfounded at the mere fact that he finally defeated metro man, and takes over the city, even moving into city hall. but pretty soon, it finds his new life boring without having someone to fight, so he decides to “create” a superhero. well, let’s just say that his plan doesn’t go according to plan, and soon, he ends up with another villian...
like i said, highly original and FUN! my favorite character was obviously the piranha in the gorilla armor body suit named minion, esp. since david cross from arrested development provided voice talent for that character. (I LOVE YOU, TOBIAS FUNKE!) voice talent aside, this was really well produced, and great for all ages! it will definitely put a smile (or two) on your face, and it makes you wonder if there really is a bit of good in everyone...even if you’ve got a big head and have blue skin and possibly have plans to take over the universe... :P
