THE WOLFMAN
2 out of 5 stars

for a movie with a star-studded cast like this one, it sure let me down... in fact, this remake of the wolfman needed to be put down... :(

stephanie meyer may have convinced us that werewolves are hot/sexy 16 year old boys, but this take on the wolfMAN is quite different! lawrence talbot (benicio del toro) is summoned back home to blackmoor, england to figure out the mystery behind his brother's gruesome/sudden death as well as the mysterious deaths of the townsfolk. while investigating on a full moon night, he is bitten by the werewolf, and begins his transformation every full moon... anthony hopkins plays his manipulative/quasi-evil father sir john, hugo weaving as the inspector investigating into lawrence talbot, and the beautiful emily blunt as the fiance of lawrence's brother. there's a family secret lawrence finally learns, and it's that his mother's "suicide" may not have been one afterall...

HIGHLY GRUESOME and almost to the point of UNNECESSARY! lots of guts, intestines, mauled faces, body parts ripped off, decapitation...IT'S ALLL HERE! the family secret gave it a bit of a twist and an extra star, but other than that, the ending is all CGI and lame. (a werewolf fight...like i wasn't expecting that!) even with a cast like this, this is the best you can come up with? tsk tsk, hollywood...
